Dr. Paul Emerson Appointed Director of Children Without Worms

Children Without Worms (CWW), a program of the Task Force for Global Health, are pleased to announce Dr. Paul Emerson, as incoming Director of Children Without Worms. Paul brings over 25 years of experience working in Africa to eliminate trachoma, malaria, and other neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), as well as contributing to seminal work in advocacy, academic research, genuine collaboration and program delivery efforts to achieve elimination of NTDs. He concurrently serves as the Director of the International Trachoma Initiative, a sister program of CWW, that provides comprehensive support to national ministries of health and governmental and nongovernmental organizations to implement the SAFE strategy to fight trachoma.

Paul shares in CWW’s organizational mission to strive for the elimination and control of intestinal worms, and make lasting, sustainable, improvements to  health and quality of life for those people at risk of sickness from NTDs. With his unwavering commitment and sense of compassion to advance health equity, he aims to make strong use of data to plan and focus program delivery, and emphasizes operational research with academic partners to overcome barriers to scale-up and service delivery. He has supported WHO, partner ministries of health, and nongovernmental organizations in strategy, program development, training, implementation, monitoring, and impact assessment.  In addition to this, Paul has been appointed as the Chair of the new WHO STH/SCH Technical Advisory Group, Monitoring and Evaluation Framework Working Group.
